Vliv genderové diverzity ve společnostech na jejich finanční a tržní výkonnost

Abstract:

Diverzita, zejména genderová diverzita v kontextu ekonomiky, obchodu a managementu, se v posledních letech stala ústředním bodem diskusí. Tato práce zkoumá dopad genderové diverzity v představenstvu a středním managementu na finanční a tržní výkonnost firmy na vzorku evropských kótovaných společností v období 2014-2021 pomocí panelové analýzy dat. Výsledky jsou nejednoznačné: diverzita na úrovni představenstva má pozitivní vztah k finanční výkonnosti (vyjádřené pomocí ROA a ROIC), zatímco diverzita středního managementu tyto ukazatele negativně ovlivňuje. Zdá se, že diverzita nemá žádný vztah s třetím finančním ukazatelem, čistou marží, ani s ukazateli výkonnosti trhu (Tobinovo Q, EV/EBITDA a variabilita denních výnosů akcií). Studie také zdůrazňuje potřebu podrobného podávání zpráv o diverzitě a také analyzování dopadu diverzity pod úrovní představenstva.

Abstract:

Diversity, especially gender diversity in the context of economics, business and management has become a focal point of debates in recent years. This thesis examines the impact of gender diversity of the board and the middle management on the firm’s financial and market performance on a sample of European listed companies over the period 2014 – 2021 using panel data analysis. The results are ambiguous: diversity on the board level is found to have a positive relationship with financial performance (proxied by ROA and ROIC), while diversity of the middle management negatively impacts these indicators. Diversity seems to have no relationship with the third financial indicator, net margin, nor with indicators of market performance (Tobin’s Q, EV/EBITDA and variability of daily stock returns). The study also highlights the need for detailed diversity reporting as well as to analyse the impact of diversity below the board level.
