Abstract:

Migration is viewed different by different people and societies, and as it is known every society has her own ways of life and these ways of life influence a great deal how individuals in these environment view life, does it change the migrating individual, is a question of influence and to what extent is the major bother of this thesis. The Igbo people being a family-oriented people, who even with the advanced legal separation of places into states and geopolitical areas still live in small communities where families can be identified and family members easily identifiable by names, this society of the migrating individual leaves in him some expectations. What influences does his migration and return to the family and community have on these individuals and how does it affect the decisions they make further on? Thence, the purpose of this study is to examine the Igbo people who have now migrated to the Czech Republic for whatever purposes, find out how they have managed life since they left their local society till this point, to what extent the life and culture of the Czech people has influenced their individual lives, what impact has their migration had on them and then figure what positive and negative impact the migration of the Igbo people to different parts of the world has on the Igbo communities.
