The perspectives of euro’s introduction into the economy of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Abstrakt Disertační práce řeší problematika vstupu České republiky do eurozóny a s tím spojené očekávané dopady na podnikovou sféru. Dopady COVID-19 do české ekonomiky s sebou nesou mnoho nových aspektů, které výrazně ovlivňují připravenost a motivovanost na přijetí eura v Česku. Proto je důležité analyzovat a vyhodnotit připravenost české ekonomiky a korporátní sféry na zavedení eura v kontextu těchto nových skutečností, z pohledu ekonomického vývoje v roce 2022 a predikcí na další roky. Disertační práce je strukturována jako přehledová studie, která rozvíjí a aktualizuje poznatky v návaznosti na publikovanou literaturu a rozšiřuje ji o poznatky z pohledu aktuálního vývoje a vlastního výzkumu autora v ekonomickém prostoru Evropské unie a České republiky. Práce je zaměřena na naplnění hlavního cíle a čtyř dílčích vědecko-výzkumných cílů. Ty jsou doplněny o hypotézy a výzkumné otázky. Hlavním cílem práce je na základě provedených analýz vyhodnotit připravenost české ekonomiky na zavedení eura, identifikovat očekávané dopady vstupu ČR do eurozóny ve vztahu ke skutečné a vnímané inflaci. Navrhnout a doporučit soubor hospodářskopolitických opatření eliminujících případná rizika se zavedením eura spojená. Lze předpokládat, že se podnikatelské subjekty v České republice aktuálně problematikou dopadu zavedení eura na korporátní sféru zabývají jen okrajově. Většina z nich řeší důsledky koronavirových opatření, obrovských ekonomických změn, změny nákupního chování zákazníků, digitalizaci svých provozů, přístup ke kapitálu, dopady agrese na Ukrajině na dodavatelský řetězec apod. Proces vlastního zavedení eura bude klást vysoké nároky na organizační schopnosti i finanční znalosti, proto se část práce věnuje i doporučením pro podnikatelský sektor. Závěr obsahuje komentář k naplnění cílů, diskusi hypotéz a zodpovězení výzkumných otázek, přínos práce pro oblast akademickou, vědeckou, korporátní apod.

Abstract:

Abstract The dissertation addresses the issue of the Czech Republic's entry into the euro area and the associated expected impacts on the corporate sector. The impacts of COVID-19 on the Czech economy bring with them many new aspects that significantly affect the readiness and motivation to adopt the euro in the Czech Republic. Therefore, it is important to analyse and evaluate the readiness of the Czech economy and the corporate sector to introduce the euro in the context of these new realities, from the perspective of economic development in 2022 and predictions for the coming years. The dissertation is structured as an overview study, which develops and updates knowledge in connection with published literature and expands it with knowledge from the perspective of current development and the author's own research in the economic area of the European Union and the Czech Republic. The work is focused on fulfilling the main goal and four partial scientific research goals. These are supplemented by hypotheses and research questions. The main goal of this work is to evaluate the readiness of the Czech economy for the introduction of the euro, to identify the expected effects of the Czech Republic's entry into the euro area in relation to real and perceived inflation. Design and recommend a set of economic policy measures to eliminate the potential risks associated with the introduction of the euro. It can be assumed that business entities in the Czech Republic are currently dealing only marginally with the issue of the impact of the introduction of the euro on the corporate sector. Most of them deal with the consequences of the measures against coronavirus, tremendous economic changes, changes in customer buying behaviour, the digitalisation of customer operations, access to capital, the impact of the aggression in Ukraine on the supply chain, etc. The euro adoption process will also be part of the work with recommendations for the business sector. The conclusion includes a commentary on the fulfilment of the objectives, a discussion of the hypotheses and answers to the research questions, as well as the contribution of the thesis to the academic, scientific, and corporate sectors, etc.
