Anotácia:

Tématem této bakalářské bráce je haiku a jeho podoby v japonském a americkém kulturním prostředí s důrazem na výrazné osobnosti. Cílem je ukázat, že haiku není striktně vázáno na kulturu japonskou, ale může stejně dobře fungovat i v kulturách jiných. Prozkoumáno je haiku v Americe, protože právě tam nejvíce vzkvétá. První část pokrývá vývoj haiku v Japonsku do poloviny 20. století, druhá potom mapuje jeho vliv na americké básníky první poloviny 20. století a posléze vznik hnutí amerického haiku. Poslední kapitola poskytuje přehled charakteristických rysů a pravidel s ohledem na možnosti a praxi haiku v angličtině.

Abstract:

The topic of the thesis is haiku and its forms in Japanese and American cultural backgrounds with an emphasis on the prominent personalities. The aim is to show that haiku is not strictly bound by the Japanese culture, but can as well work in other cultures. The haiku in America is examined, because that is where it flourishes the most. The first part covers the evolution of haiku in Japan up to the middle of the 20th century, the second surveys its influence on certain American poets in the first half of the 20th century and at length the rise of the American haiku movement. The last part offers an overview of the rules and the characteristic features of haiku from the position of English-language haiku.
