The influence of fallacy reasoning on decision making

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je prostřednictvím vlastního výzkumu zjistit, proč se v některých případech liší reakce na argumentační fauly oproti teoretickým předpokladům. Jejím přínosem je vysvětlení nejasností v existujícím výzkumu a identifikace možných dalších směrů výzkumu prováděného na fakultě. Po teoretickém vymezení pojmů a představení výsledků studií týkajících se problematiky argumentačních faulů následuje praktická část práce. Díky provedení pilotního výzkumu jsme mohli odstranit technické a praktické nedostatky. Samotný výzkum ukázal, že studenti reagují na argumentační fauly různě. Byli ovlivněni například sociálním cítěním a soucitem nebo tím, že si sami sebe představují v nepříjemné situaci. Kluzký svah považovali za silný argument. A nejvíce byli úspěšní v odhalení faulu příhoda. V závěrečné diskuzi jsou zahrnuty okolnosti jako například obor studia, které mohly ovlivnit odpovědi.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out through own research why in some cases the reactions to fallacy reasoning differ from the theoretical assumptions. Contribution of this thesis is to explain the uncertainties in existing research and to identify possible other research directions at the faculty. After the theoretical definition of the terms and the presentation of the results of studies concerning the issue of fallacy reasoning, the practical part of the thesis follows. By conducting the pilot research we have been able to eliminate technical and practical shortcomings. The research itself showed that students react differently to fallacy reasoning. For example, they were influenced by social feeling and compassion, or by presenting themselves in an unpleasant situation. The slippery slope was in many situations a strong argument to them. And they were the most successful in detecting the anecdotal evidence. The final discussion includes circumstances such as the field of study that may have influenced the answers.
