Steady state visually evoked potentials (SSVEP) and their application in BCI

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá aplikací SSVEP v oblasti BCI. V první části jsou rozebírány způsoby měření mozkových vln, principy evokovaných potenciálů a zpracování EEG dat. V další části je navrženo BCI na principu SSVEP. Jedná se o ovládání robotického vozítka, které zatáčí v závislosti na tom, kam uživatel soustředí pozornost. Zde bylo třeba zohlednit principy práce mozku a individuální rozdíly každého člověka během měření a navrhnout moduly systému dostatečně robustním způsobem. Realizace jednotlivých modulů potřebných pro toto BCI je popsána v dalších kapitolách. Jedná se zejména o moduly pro načítání dat, zpracování EEG a klasifikaci. Poslední část práce obsahuje ověření funkcí jednotlivých modulů a zhodnocení výsledků.

Abstract:

This dissertation deals with SSVEP application in the field of BCI. There are analyzed methods of measure brain waves, the principles of evoked potentials and how we can process EEG data in the first part. The next section is designed the BCI on the principle of SSVEP. It is about the control of robotics car which turned there where the user concentrates their attention. It was necessary to take into consideration principles of the brain and the individual differences of each person during the measuring and design modules of the system by sufficiently robust manner. Implementation of modules needed for the BCI is described in subsequent chapters. This includes modules for retrieval of the data, processing the EEG and classification. The last part of the dissertation includes an validation of the individual functions of each modules and the evaluation of the results.
