Diplomová práca je zameraná na ochranu softvéru pred neoprávneným používaním. Práca sa v teoretickej časti zaoberá spracovaním prehľadu súčasného stavu v oblasti ochrany softvéru. Druhá kapitola práce opisuje realizáciu hardvérového riešenia ochrany softvéru, ktoré je reprezentované hardvérovým kľúčom.
