Abstract:

Československé opevnění budované ve třicátých letech 20. století se stalo nejenom symbolem, ale i mementem snah malého národa o uhájení vlastního existenčního prostoru. Snahou této práce je přiblížit, v kontextu mezinárodního politického vývoje tehdejší Evropy, vznikající obrannou koncepci Československé republiky, jejímž vrcholem a zároveň i pilířem se stalo stálé opevnění. Jelikož historický význam a rozsah vlastní výstavby opevnění jednoznačně přesahuje hranice naší republiky, je nezbytné na danou problematiku pohlížet komplexně. K dosažení požadovaného pohledu poslouží úvodní část práce věnovaná vzniku a vývoji československé armády, která se stala hlavním iniciátorem a garantem výstavby opevnění. Pro zodpovědné zpracování tématu bylo ovšem zapotřebí stručně shrnout i vývoj ostatních ozbrojených sborů Československé republiky, jejichž úloha při předpokládané obraně státu nebyla zanedbatelná. Nejrozsáhlejší část práce se pak snaží zmapovat organizaci výstavby československého opevnění od okolností, které přispěly k rozhodnutí vybudovat tento fortifikační systém, až k ukončení jeho výstavby na podzim roku 1938.

Abstract:

Czechoslovakian fortifications built in the nineteen thirties became not only a symbol, but also a memento of efforts of a small nation to preserve their own subsistence area. The aim of this work is to show the emerging defence concept of the Czechoslovakian Republic in the context of international political developments of Europe at that time. The permanent fortifications became the peak and pillar of this defence concept. Since the historical significance and extent of building the fortifications unambiguously exceeds the borders of our republic, a comprehensive approach to the issue is essential. The introductory part of the paper will serve to achieve this desired effect. It is dedicated to the creation and development of the Czechoslovakian army, which became the main initiator and guarantor of the construction of the fortifications. To process the topic responsibly, it is necessary to briefly summarize the development of other armed forces in the Czechoslovakian Republic. The role of these forces in the potential defence of the republic was not negligible. The largest part of the paper then tries to map the organization of the construction of the Czechoslovakian fortifications, starting from the circumstances, which contributed to the decision to build the fortification system, until the termination of its construction in the autumn 1938.
