Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na roli Japonska a Jižní Koreje při udržování jaderné stability v severovýchodní Asii v kontextu rostoucí čínské jaderné kapacity a proměn rozšířeného odstrašování Spojených států. Rychlá modernizace a rozšiřování čínského arzenálu, provázené nízkou transparentností a absencí v režimech kontroly zbrojení, přinášejí značné nejistoty. Práce je koncipována jako scénářová analýza, která zkoumá tři možné vývoje (eskalace, rivalita, spolupráce) a hodnotí nástroje obou států k posílení odstrašování, omezení rizika eskalace a podpoře transparentnosti.

Abstract:

This paper examines the role of Japan and South Korea in maintaining nuclear stability in Northeast Asia amid China’s expanding nuclear capabilities and evolving U.S. extended deterrence. China is rapidly modernising its arsenal while remaining outside most arms control frameworks and maintaining low transparency, increasing uncertainty. Using scenario analysis (escalation, managed competition, stabilisation), the paper explores security dynamics and assesses how both non-nuclear U.S. allies respond to credibility concerns, including policy adjustments, hedging strategies, and limits to cooperation shaped by domestic and historical factors.
