Corporate Social Responsibility - Business Ethics in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje oblasti společenské odpovědnosti firem se zaměřením na etiku podnikání v prostředí České republiky. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit, zda existuje souvislost mezi velikostí podniku a existencí etického kodexu, zda je nějaký rozdíl v chování firem, které mají zavedený etický kodex a které jej nemají, a zda je nějaká přímá souvislost mezi oborem podnikání a etickou úrovní firem. Práce se nejprve věnuje jednotlivým sférám i samotnému historickému vývoji CSR. Dále se zabývá obecnou etikou, etikou podnikání a jejím hlavním nástrojem – etickým kodexem. Významem této části práce je poukázat na důležitost zavádění etických kodexů do řízení organizací, které za vhodných podmínek může v dlouhodobém horizontu představovat reálně vyjádřitelný přínos. Aplikační část obsahuje dotazníkové šetření, které je řešeno prostřednictvím výzkumné sondy u různých oborů podnikání. Následně je provedeno vyhodnocení získaných informací, které jsou shrnuty a porovnány s výsledky výzkumu organizace Transparency International – Česká republika, která pravidelně monitoruje etiku podnikání a úroveň korupce v ČR.

Abstract:

The scope of this theses is covering the area of social liability of companies with the focus on the business‘ ethics in the Czech Republic. The main objective is to identify whether connection between the size of the company and the existence of the ethics code exists. It questions whether there is a difference in the behavior of the company who has the ethics code and who has not, whether there is a direct connection with the type of business and ethical level of the company. The thesis first describes particular spheres and the historical evolution of the social liability of the companies It goes on to talk about general ethics, ethics of the business and its main tool – code of ethics. The interest of this part of the thesis is to show the importance of the implementation of the ethics codes into the organization, which under the right conditions can in the long term represents the real benefit. The application section contains the questionnaire, which has been completed by members from a variety of areas in the business. The obtained data has been evaluated and compared to the results of the research of the organization Transparency International - Czech Republic, which is regularly monitoring the business ethics and the level of the corruption in the Czech Republic.
