Social market economy in Germany: current situation and future development

Abstract:

Po druhé světové válce byla situace Německa obtížná. Důsledky porážky byly citelné ve všech sférách. Přesto se německá ekonomika z této nelehké situace dostala a v průběhu dalších dvaceti let zažívala nebývalý hospodářský růst. Významný podíl na této obnově měli představitelé koncepce sociálně tržního hospodářství a zástupci ordoliberalismu Ludwig Erhard, Walter Aucken či Alexander Rustow. V první kapitole se zabývám charakteristikou a základními principy sociálně tržního hospodářství. Definuji základní historické milníky tohoto konceptu s ohledem na ekonomický vývoj. S postupnými vnitřními i vnějšími změnami, které nevyhnutelně působily na německou ekonomiku, se ukázaly slabiny nastaveného systému. Docházelo k strukturálním reformám, které určitým způsobem vedly ke změně původního konceptu sociálně tržního hospodářství a k nastavení nové podoby sociálně tržního hospodářství. Právě na tuto postupnou změnu je zaměřena 2. kapitola. Závěrečná kapitola pojednává o aktuální ekonomické situaci, která je ve velké míře ovlivněna narůstající globalizací a integrací v rámci EU. S tím souvisí také současná podoba sociálně tržního systému a z něj vyplývající jak pozitiva, tak negativa. Závěrečná část je věnována budoucímu vývoji a udržitelnosti konceptu sociálně tržního hospodářství.

Abstract:

After 2 WW was a situation in Germany very difficult. Consequences of a defeat were legible in all spheres. Despite of this situation the German economy was able to recover and in the next two decades showed an economic growth. A significant share on this recovery had representatives of the concept of social market economy and representatives of ordoliberalism Ludwig Erhard, Walter Aucken or Alexander Rustow. In the first chapter I deal with the characteristics and main principles of social market economy. I define main historical milestones of this concept regarding the economic development. With another internal and external changes which inevitably affected German economy, a weaknesses of this system appeared. There were implemented structural reforms, which changed the original concept of social market economy. The second chapter is focused on these structural changes. The last and third chapter deals with current economic situation, which was influenced by the process of globalization and integration of EU. Then in this chapter I describe the current form of social market economy and pros and cons of this concept. The final part deals with future development and sustainability of social market economy.
