The story of Princess Pocahontas in English Literature

Abstract:

The legend of Pocahontas became the resource for literary treatment for a lot of authors of various literary genres. The thesis is describing the way authors deal with the myth of Pocahontas and how they create a story on bases of historical facts. Several books narrating the story of Pocahontas are presented and analyzed. The comparison of the ways the selected themes are treated and adapted by the authors is presented and conclusion based on the analyses and comparisons is drawn. Moreover, the influence of the personality, origin, belief system and preferences of the author is suggested and described on several examples. The features that are typical for a genre chosen by the author influence the final form of the literary work as well.
