A comparison between work engagement amongst teachers at private and public higschools

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je porovnání pracovní angažovanosti učitelů ze soukromého gymnázia a učitelů ze státních gymnázií, obojí z Moravskoslezského kraje. Dalším cílem je zmapování pracovní angažovanosti učitelů a dalších psychologických aspektů ovlivňující právě angažovanost: self-efficacy, autonomie, pracovní spokojenost učitelů a studentská angažovanost. Bylo hypotetizováno, že pracovní angažovanost učitelů pozitivně koreluje s učitelskou self-efficacy, s pracovní spokojeností učitelů, s mírou autonomie učitelů a s pracovní angažovaností studentů. Jedná se o korelační studii provedenou na vzorku 55 vyučujících a 373 studentů z Moravskoslezského kraje. Nebyl nalezen vztah mezi celkovou angažovaností učitelů ze soukromé školy a celkovou angažovaností učitelů ze státních škol, ale byly nalezeny signifikantní rozdíly ve dvou dimenzích pracovní angažovanosti a to emoční angažovanost (EE) a angažovanost vůči kolegům (SEC). Byly rovněž nalezeny pozitivní středně silné vztahy mezi pracovní angažovaností učitelů a mírou self-efficacy učitelů, pracovní spokojeností učitelů a vnímanou autonomií učitelů. Nebyl nalezen vztah mezi pracovní angažovaností a studentskou angažovaností.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to compare work engagement of teachers from a private highschool and teachers from state highschools, both from the Moravian-Silesian region. Another goal is to map work engagement and other psychological aspects affecting the engagement: self-efficacy, autonomy, job satisfaction and student engagement. It has been hypothesized that teachers' work engagement is positively correlated with teachers' self-efficacy, with teachers' job satisfaction, with teacher autonomy and with student engagement. It is a correlation study performed on a sample of 55 teachers and 373 students from the Moravian-Silesian Region. No relationship was found between the total engagement of the private school teachers and the total engagement of the state schools teachers, but significant differences were found in two dimensions of work engagement, namely emotional engagement (EE) and engagement with colleuges (SEC). Positive moderately strong relationships were found between teachers' work engagement and teachers' degree of self-efficacy, teachers' job satisfaction and perceived teacher autonomy. No relationship was found between work engagement and student engagement.
