Patient education about intermittent self-catheterization of a bladder

Abstract:

Intermitentní autokatetrizace močového měchýře je častou metodou volby při neurogenních dysfunkcích močového měchýře. Do kompetencí všeobecných sester patří seznámit pacienty s intermitentní autokatetrizací a uvést je do praxe společným nácvikem. Během edukace je důležité pacienty nejen informovat o zásadách jejího praktikování, ale současně také o komplikacích a rizicích spojených s touto metodu. Teoretická část práce se věnuje základům anatomie a fyziologie mikce, dysfunkcím močového měchýře, metodám vyprazdňování močového měchýře a dopodrobna rozebírá intermitentní autokatetrizaci. Cílem je se zaměřit na edukaci pacientů, zjistit jejich informovanost o této metodě a o zásadách jejího provádění. Výzkumná část je zpracována kvantitativní metodou a sběr dat uskutečněn technikou dotazníku. Výstupem je poster informující o zásadách provádění intermitentní autokatetrizace včetně jejich rizik.

Abstract:

Intermittent bladder autocatheterization is a common method of choice for neurogenic bladder dysfunctions. One part of the competences of general nurses is to acquaint patients with intermittent self-catheterization and put them into practice through joint training. During education, it is not important only to inform patients about the principles of its practice, but also to acquaint them with the complications and risks associated with this method. The theoretical part presents the basics of anatomy and physiology of micturition, bladder dysfunctions, bladder emptying methods and discusses intermittent autocatheterization in details. The aim is to focus on patient education, to find out their awareness of this method and the principles of its implementation. The research part is processed by a quantitative method and data collection is carried out using the questionnaire technique. The output is a poster informing about the principles of intermittent self-catheterization, including their risks.
