Wellness services in Czech Hotels

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje problematice wellness služeb v hotelnictví. V první, teoretické části je vymezen pojem wellness a popsána historie péče o tělo a ducha ve světových i českých dějinách, novodobá historie této péče již pod pojmem wellness a její aplikace jako welness služby v současném hotelnictví. Následuje rozdělení hotelů podle míry uplatnění wellness principů a současné vývojové trendy v oblasti wellness ve světovém hotelnictví. Druhá, analytická část se skládá ze dvou okruhů. První se zabývá analýzou problematiky wellness v našem domácím hotelnictví, hlavními trendy, které převládaly při zavádění a rozvoji wellness služeb v českých hotelích v letech 1997 – 2010. Druhý popisuje vlastní dotazníkový průzkum stanovisek hostů a zaměstnanců hotelových sport a wellness center. Ten byl proveden ve dvou konkrétních hotelích, v turisticky atraktivních oblastech České republiky, ve kterých jsou wellness služby významnou součástí nabídky hotelových služeb a byl zaměřen na zájem o různé segmenty wellness služeb mezi různými segmenty hotelových hostů. Průzkum byl vyhodnocen pomocí statistické analýzy a tím získán přehled o významu jednotlivých služeb, či segmentů služeb pro daný hotel. Jedním z cílů průzkumu bylo potvrzení současného trendu, že wellness služby jsou důležitou součástí nabídky hotelů vyšší kategorie a to také jeho výsledky potvrdily. Třetí návrhová část práce se zaměřuje na návrhy konkrétních racionalizačních opatření ve zkoumaných hotelích a jsou v ní odvozeny, resp. potvrzeny obecně platné trendy v oblasti welness služeb v hotelnictví v České republice.

Abstract:

The thesis concerns the issue of wellness services in the hotel industry. The first theoretical part of the thesis defines the term wellness and describes the background of care for the body and mind in world and Czech history, the modern history of this care under the new term of wellness and its application as wellness services in the current hotel industry. This is followed by the categorisation of hotels according to the degree of application of wellness principles and current development trends in wellness in the global hotel industry. The second analytic part consists of two areas. The first concerns an analysis of the issue of wellness in our domestic hotel industry, the main trends prevalent in the segment and the development of wellness services at Czech hotels in 1997 – 2010. The second describes the survey conducted among the guests and employees of hotel sports and wellness centres. The survey was conducted at two specific hotels in popular tourist destinations in the Czech Republic, where wellness services constitute a significant part of the offered hotel services, and focussed on interest in various segments of wellness services among various segments of hotel guests. The survey was evaluated using a statistical analysis to obtain an overview of the importance of individual services or service segments for the given hotel. One of the survey objectives was to confirm the current trend that wellness services are an important part of the offer at higher category hotels, and this was confirmed by the results. The third proposal part of the thesis focuses on specific rationalisation measures at the examined hotels, and infers or confirms the generally valid trends in wellness services in the hotel industry in the Czech Republic.
