The Development of Makerspaces in Czech Libraries

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na to, jak jsou v současnosti zakládány a rozvíjeny otevřené dílny v českých veřejných knihovnách. Těžištěm práce je výzkum, který využívá polostrukturované rozhovory pro zjištění, jaké impulsy k zakládání otevřených dílen v knihovnách vedou, jaké motivace stojí v pozadí těchto aktivit a kde a jak knihovny získávají informace k tomu potřebné. Dále také zjišťuje, jaké konkrétní postupy knihovny při zakládání otevřených dílen využívají, s jakými problémy a překážkami se v rámci těchto snah setkávají a jaké přístupy se při těchto aktivitách knihovnám osvědčují.

Abstract:

The bachelor’s thesis focuses on the depiction of the establishment and development of makerspaces in Czech public libraries. The main part of the work is a research which uses semi structured interviews to find out what impulses lead to the establishment of makerspaces in libraries, what motivations are behind these activities and where and how do libraries obtain information needed for it. It also finds out which specific methods libraries use when setting up makerspaces, which problems and obstacles they encounter and what approaches work well for these activities.
