THE POSITION OF WOMEN AGED 50 YEARS AND MORE ON THE CZECH LABOR MARKET

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je analýza vývoje a příčin nepříznivé situace žen ve věkové kategorii 50+ na trhu práce a návrh efektivních opatření, která by pozici starších žen na trhu práce zlepšila. Teoretická část práce obsahuje důvody problematického uplatnění žen ve věku 50+ na trhu práce, současná opatření zacílená na podporu zaměstnávání zkoumané skupiny populace a srovnání situace na českém trhu práce se situací na trhu práce Finska a Švédska, kde je postavení starších žen příznivé. Praktická část obsahuje analýzu postavení starších žen na českém trhu práce zpracovanou na základě dvou dotazníkových šetření, která jsou provedena v populaci starších žen a zaměstnavatelů. Diplomová práce ověřuje hypotézu, že používaná opatření na podporu zaměstnávání starších žen jsou nesprávně zaměřena a nedostatečně reflektují genderové rozdíly přetrvávající na trhu práce. Výstupem práce je odvození efektivních návrhů řešení. Práce využívá metody komparace, indukce, analýzy statistických dat a dotazníkové šetření.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the evolution and causes of unfavorable situation of older women (50+) in the labor market and to recommend effective measures to improve the situation of these women in the labor market. The theoretical part of this work includes reasons of the problematical position of women aged 50 years and more in the labor market. This part also includes current measures aimed on employment support of examined group of population in the Czech Republic and comparisons of these measures with those established in Finland and Sweden, where the situation of women aged 50 years and more in the labor market is more favorable. The empirical part of this thesis is focused on the analysis of the position of older women on the labor market in the Czech Republic based on results of two questionnaire surveys, among older women and among employers. Diploma thesis aims to confirm or to refuse the hypothesis that the current measures aimed on employment support of older women are not focused on correct areas and that these measures do not adequately reflect gender differences still existing in the labor market. The benefit of this thesis is recommendation of appropriate measures which will improve the situation of older women in the labor market. Methods of comparison, induction, analysis of statistical data and questionnaire surveys have been used.
