Demographic ageing in developing countries

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá představením konceptu demografického stárnutí. V teoretické rovině rozebírá příčiny procesu stárnutí, v čele s poklesem plodnosti a prodlužující se délkou života. Práce se dále věnuje vlivu migrace na demografické stárnutí jednotlivých společností, stejně tak ekonomickým a environmentálním aspektům uvedeného procesu. Důležitou součástí je rovněž analýza demografického stárnutí ve vybraných regionech, včetně představení příkladů dobré praxe. Praktická část práce se věnuje procesu stárnutí populace v Thajsku, vybrané zemi regionu ASEAN. Zvolená země je nejprve analyzována z hlediska ukazatelů souvisejících s demografickým stárnutím. Dále je věnován prostor zhodnocení politik implementovaných thajskou vládou a analýze všech zemí ASEAN z hlediska přístupu k procesu demografického stárnutí.

Abstract:

The Diploma Thesis deals with the concept of demographic ageing. In the theoretical level it analyses the causes of the ageing process led by fertility decline and increasing life expectancy. The Thesis also examines impacts of migration on demographic ageing in individual societies, as well as the economic and environmental aspects of the process. An analysis of demographic ageing in selected regions, including examples of good practice, is also an important part of the paper. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the process of population ageing in Thailand, a selected country in ASEAN region. The selected country is analysed in terms of indicators related to demographic ageing. The Thesis also focuses on assessment of the policies implemented by Thai government and an analysis of all ASEAN countries in terms of their approach to the demographic ageing process.
