Intercultural Communication of the young generation and its role in contemporary modern society

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá úrovní interkulturní komunikační kompetence generace mileniálů v České republice. Cílem bylo aplikovat multidimenzionální model ICC na vzorek mileniálů a posoudit, zda je tato metoda šetření vhodná k širšímu využití v praxi. Pět dimenzí modelu bylo přetvořeno v otázky dotazníkového šetření, kterého se zúčastnilo 167 českých mileniálů. Z naměřených výsledků vyplynulo, že tento způsob měření ICC je po zahrnutí drobných úprav skutečně využitelný pro plošná dotazníková měření ICC ve světě. Výsledky šetření poskytly ucelený obraz o úrovni ICC průměrného českého mileniála, podobným způsobem je tedy možné zjistit také úrovně interkulturní komunikační kompetence dalších generací či celé populace státu.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on the level of intercultural communicative competence of generation of Millenials in the Czech Republic. The goal was, to put multidimensional model of ICC into practice by measuring ICC on a sample of Millenials and to decide whether or not, this method is suitable for further extensive practical use. The model’s five dimensions were transformed into questions of a survey and were answered by 167 Czech Millenials. As emerged from the survey’s results, this way of measuring ICC is truly a usable one. After few recommended changes, it is possible to be involved in larger questionnaire surveys on ICC all around the world. Based on the results of this survey, a coherent view on the level of ICC of an average Czech Millenial has been worked out. Level of intercultural communicative competence of other generations or a whole population of a country can be measured the same way.
