Dietician or counselor? Who do we meet in the hospital nutritional counseling?

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá současnou pozicí nutričního terapeuta v prostředí českého zdravotnictví. V úvodní části popisuje historický vývoj tohoto povolání a jeho současné uchopení v legislativě České republiky. Poté se věnuje problematice poskytování nutričního poradenství a nastiňuje změnu chování člověka z pohledu transteoretického modelu změny. V další části práce je pak představen kvalitativní výzkum působení nutričních terapeutek v nemocničních nutričních poradnách, který byl proveden za účelem porozumění fungování těchto poraden a jehož design byl inspirován metodou zakotvené teorie dle Strausse a Corbinové. Na základě analýzy dat nashromážděných pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s nutričními terapeutkami pak byly zkonstruovány dva ideální typy nutričních poraden vyskytující se v prostředí nemocnic - nutriční poradna zaměřená na výkon a nutriční poradna zaměřená na pacienta.

Abstract:

This master thesis focuses on the current position of dietitian in the Czech healthcare system. The history of this profession and its current position in the legislation of the Czech Republic is described in the introductory section of this thesis. Afterwards the issues of providing nutrition education are examined and the outlines of the transtheoretical model of behaviour change are laid. The qualitative research of dietitian’s work within the hospital is introduced in the next part of the thesis. The research was carried out for the purpose of better understanding of the nutrition counseling process within the hospital. The design of the research was inspired by the methodology of grounded theory. The data were collected using semi-structured interviews with dietitians. Based on the data analysis two ideal types of nutrition counseling approach were constructed – nutrition counseling focused on performance and nutrition counseling focused on patient.
