Language mediation as a new competence in teaching German as a foreign language at elementary and secondary schools

Abstract:

The master thesis deals with the issue of the language mediation in foreign language teaching, especially (with) its contribution to German language teaching. The term language mediation and its development are described in the theoretical part of the thesis. Continuously, the mediation is set into the context of the foreign language education. The significant issue of the practical part is the methodical-didactical analysis of proposed mediation activities. These activities were proposed on the basis of the knowledge acquired from the theoretical part. They are patterned on the German textbook Ideen 2 and are directed to (focused on) the language level A2. The empirical part deals with the action research. The aim of this part is the evaluation of own activities and to discover the rate of success for students based on the feedback from students and the teacher. In the conclusion of the thesis the data are evaluated by the content analysis. The semi-structured interview and the Focus Group Discussion were used for collecting of data.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem jazykové mediace ve výuce cizího jazyka, konkrétně jejím přínosem v hodinách němčiny. V teoretické části této práce je blíže vysvětlen a popsán pojem jazyková mediace a její vývoj. Dále je mediace zasazena do kontextu cizojazyčného vzdělávání. Stěžejním bodem praktické části je metodicko-didaktický rozbor navržených mediačních aktivit. Tyto konkrétní aktivity byly navrhnuty na základě poznatků z teoretické části. Vychází z německé učebnice Ideen 2 a jsou směřovány na jazykovou úroveň A2. Empirická část je věnována akčnímu výzkumu. Cílem této části je hloubková evaluace vlastních aktivit a na základě zpětné vazby od žáků a učitele zjistit, do jaké míry byly tyto aktivity pro žáky přínosné. V závěru práce jsou data vyhodnocena pomocí obsahové analýzy. Jako metoda sběru dat bylo použito polostrukturované interview a metoda ohniskové skupiny.
