Analysis of the Effectiveness of Anti-smoking Campaigns

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou účinnosti protikuřáckých kampaní a dalších opatření omezujících kouření. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda kampaně a opatření plní svůj účel, kterým je zejména snižování počtu kuřáků ve společnosti, a ověřit nakolik pravdivý je všeobecný názor o jejich zbytečnosti. Pro účely diplomové práce byla provedena analýza dostupných sekundárních údajů, ve formě statistických dat a výběrových šetření, a uskutečněn vlastní kvantitativní výzkum prostřednictvím on-line a ústního dotazování, který ověřoval několik hypotéz. Na základě tohoto výzkumu byl zjištěn vývoj počtu kuřáků v rámci české populace, znalost kampaní proti kouření, jejich vliv na kuřáky a veřejné mínění na plánovaná opatření. Pomocí výstupů výzkumu byla stanovena závěrečná doporučení na možné zlepšení kampaní i návrhy pro další výzkum této problematiky.

Abstract:

The thesis analyses the effectiveness of anti-smoking campaigns and other measures restricting smoking. The aim of the thesis is to determine whether the campaigns and measures in question fulfil their objective, which is to reduce the number of smokers in society, and to verify how much truth there is to the widespread opinion that they are useless. An analysis of secondary data available was carried out for the purposes of the thesis, comprising statistical data and surveys. Quantitative research in the form of online and oral questioning was also conducted, examining several of the hypotheses. Based on this research, the following was identified: trends in the number of smokers in the Czech population, knowledge of anti-smoking campaigns, their influence on smokers, and the public opinion about the measures planned. Using the results of the research, final recommendations for the possible improvement of campaigns and suggestions for further research into this issue were determined.
