Military quarantine in Pardubice 1914 - 1918

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá historií největší válečné nemocnice v Evropě v období první světové války s kapacitou 10 000 lůžek, která se nacházela v Pardubicích. Nemocnice byla jednoduché konstrukce, avšak na svou dobu byla vybavena velmi moderně. Klíčovou otázkou mé práce bylo soužití a vzájemné ovlivňování nemocnice a města. Na periferii Pardubic tehdy vzniklo de facto další město. Pardubice měly v dané době okolo 20 000 obyvatel a v barákové nemocnici mohlo přebývat 13 000 ? 14 000 osob. V souvislosti se soužitím tohoto komplexu s městem vyvstala řada komplikací, zejména pak v oblasti zásobování.

Abstract:

I concerned in my thesis with the history of the largest European military quarantine in Pardubice in the years of the First World War. This quarantine had 10 000 sick-beds. The quarantine had simple construction, however, was well-appointed in modern way. The key-questions of my thesis were co-existence and interference between quarantine and the city. Finally, in the outskirts of Pardubice had risen new city. Pardubice had near 20 000 citizens and the quarantine can reach 13 000 ? 14 000 persons. In connection with co-existence of this yard with the city, there grown many ravels, especially in material supply.
