Abstract:

The diploma thesis The Pantomime and Clown Productions of Boleslav Polívka from 1972 to 1987 in the Theatre on a String studies Polívka primarily as an authorial theatre creator. It focuses on his theatre productions during his first fifteen years in professional theatre. During this period, he created nine original and internationally acclaimed works. Polívka combined different genres, such as pantomime, buffoonery or drama, and was also inspired by circus disciplines, slapstick or commedia dell'arte. The core of this work are the analyses of nine authorial productions of Boleslav Polívka that he created from 1972 to 1987 at the Theatre on a String in Brno: Boogie men, Am and Ea, Pépe, Pezza versus Čorba, Castaway, Huntball, Jester and the Queen, Therapy and Seance. The analyses result in the attempt to define the acting style of Polívka. The study contains his portrait from the early beginnings up to the present, a brief description of his authorial and writing style and his activities abroad. It also studies his productions in terms of the dramaturgy of the Theatre on a String.

Abstract:

Dizertačná práca Pantomimické a klaunské inscenácie Boleslava Polívku v rokoch 1972 – 1987 v Divadle na provázku skúma Boleslava Polívku v prvom rade ako autorského divadelníka. Zameriava sa na jeho divadelnú tvorbu počas prvých pätnástich rokov v profesionálnom divadle. V tomto období Polívka vytvoril deväť originálnych a medzinárodne úspešných inscenácií, v ktorých voľne kombinoval žánre pantomímy, klauniády a činohry, pričom sa takisto inšpiroval cirkusovými disciplínami, filmovou groteskou alebo komédiou dell'arte. Jadrom práce sú analýzy deviatich autorských inscenácií Boleslava Polívku, ktoré vytvoril v období 1972-1987 v Divadle na provázku v Brne: Strašidýlka, Am a Ea, Pépe, Pezza versus Čorba, Trosečník, Poslední leč, Šašek a královna, Terapie a Seance. Výsledkom analýz je pokus o pomenovanie Polívkovho hereckého štýlu. Práca zahŕňa i prehľadový portrét od narodenia po súčasnosť, stručné zmapovanie Polívkovho autorského a scenáristického štýlu a pôsobenie v zahraničí. Taktiež skúma jeho tvorbu v kontexte dramaturgie a metodiky práce Divadla na provázku.
