Sentiment analysis in the area of finance and securities trading

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá identifikací vhodných algoritmů sloužících pro analýzu sentimentu článků a zpráv v oblasti financí. Nejlepších výsledků v této oblasti dosahují nově vzniklé algoritmy, které jsou založené na strojovém učení. Tato práce popisuje některé z nich a zabývá se tvorbou postupů, jak tyto algoritmy použít k dosažení zvoleného cíle. Následně dochází k jejich vyhodnocení a porovnání. Za účelem vyhodnocení byly vytvořeny dvě označkované datové sady zaměřené na finanční doménu. Součástí je taktéž stručné seznámení s problematikou finanční domény a analýzy sentimentu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with identification of appropriate algorithms used for sentiment analysis of articles and news in the area of finance. The best results in this area are achieved by newly created algorithms which are based on machine learning. This thesis describes some of those and furtherly deals with creation of procedures which utilise these algorithms for achievement of a given objective. The procedures are furtherly assessed and compared. There were two marked sets of data focused on financial domain created for the assessment purpose. The thesis also shortly introduces the area of the financial domain and the sentiment analysis.
