The process of reading in aesthetic theory: concretization and the act of reading

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce představuje a srovnává pojmy konkretizace a akt čtení. O konkretizaci hovoří Roman Ingarden v ontologické a epistemologické teorii literárního díla, v rámci recepční estetiky pak Wolfgang Iser zavádí pojem akt čtení. Oba pojmy slouží k pojmenování procesu čtení, sledují vztah mezi literárním dílem a čtenářem. Cílem práce je představit a srovnat oba přístupy s ohledem na teoretické zázemí fenomenologie a směrů Kostnické školy, poukázat na shodná a rozporná místa obou teorií a jejich závěrů ve vztahu k estetické teorii.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis introduces and compares the concepts of concretization and the act of reading. Roman Ingarden discusses concretization in the ontological and epistemological theory of the literary work, while Wolfgang Iser introduces the concept of the Act of Reading in the framework of reception aesthetic. Both terms are used to name the reading process, they follow the relationship between literary work and reader. The aim of thesis is to present and compare both approaches with regard to the theoretical background of phenomenology and the directions of the Constance School, to point out the points of agreement and contradiction between the two theories and their conclusions in relation to aesthetic theory.
