International reflection of the Russo-Chechen conflict

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá rusko-čečenským konfliktem a jeho mezinárodní reflexí a souvislostmi. V práci byla využita metoda případové studie, ve které byly aplikovány teoretické poznatky z oblasti mezinárodního práva, vztahu státu a autonomní oblasti a metoda analýzy reakcí mezinárodních organizací na rusko-čečenský konflikt. Cílem této práce bylo především zanalyzovat odezvu aktérů mezinárodních vztahů na rusko-čečenské konflikty (první a druhá rusko-čečenská válka) a porušování lidských práv v nich. Přesněji bylo cílem zanalyzovat reakci mezinárodních organizací, jichž je Rusko členem nebo je určitou měrou ovlivňuje a zjistit, zda byl konfliktem nějak ovlivněn vztah mezinárodních organizací k Rusku. Na základě rešerše odborné literatury bylo zjištěno, že mezinárodní postavení subjektu porušujícího lidská práva má značný vliv na způsob, jakým je v oblasti mezinárodní politiky řešena otázka lidských práv. V konečném důsledku se postoje organizací vůči Rusku ze strategických důvodů nezměnily. Jedná se o otázku priorit, kdy strategické a domácí zájmy byly v problematice upřednostněny před úvahami o spravedlnosti a lidských právech.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the Russian-Chechen conflict and its international reflection and context. The case study method was used in this thesis, where theoretical knowledge from the area of international law, the relation between the country and the autonomous region, and the method of analysis of international organizations' reactions to the Russian-Chechen conflict were applied. The main aim of this work was to analyze the response of international relations participants to Russian-Chechen conflicts (the first and the second Russian-Chechen war) and human rights violations in them. More precisely, the aim was to analyze the reaction of international organizations, which Russia is a member of or to some extent influences them, and to determine whether the relation between international organizations and Russia was affected by the conflict in any way. Based on information obtained from the professional literature, it has been discovered that the international position of a human rights violator has a significant impact on the way the question of human rights is handled in the environment of international relations. Ultimately, organizations' attitudes towards Russia have not changed for strategic reasons. This is a matter of priorities, where strategic and domestic interests have been prioritized over the consideration of justice and human rights.
