Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá srovnáním díla J.R.R. Tolkiena The Hobbit or There and Back Again a jeho překladu do češtiny od Františka Vrby Hobit aneb cesta tma a zase zpátky. Práce se zaměřuje na rozdíly mezi původním textem a jeho překladem zejména na lexikální a stylistické úrovni jazyka. Mé komentáře k těmto rozdílům, nebo-li posunům, způsobeným nesouměřitelností dvou jazyků a jejich kultur, se soustřeďují na vybrané překladové problémy a jejich řešení, která jsou seskupena pod výrazné překladatelské strategie. U těchto překladatelských řešení hodnotím jejich výsledný efekt v rámci posunu významu a dopadu na čtenáře cílového textu.

Abstract:

This thesis is concerned with a comparison of the book by J.R.R. Tolkien The Hobbit or There and Back Again and its translation into Czech language by František Vrba Hobit aneb cesta tam a zase zpátky. The focus is on the differences between the original text and the translation mainly at the lexical and stylistic level of the lanaguage. In my commentaries to these differences, or shifts, which are caused by the assymetry of the two languages and their cultures, I concetrate on selected translation problems and their solutions, which are grouped under the significant transation strategies, and I evaluate the effect of these translation solutions in respect of the shifts of meaning and the final impact on the target text readers.
