Abstract:

Veřejný prostor, ať už si pod tímto urbanistickým pojmem představíme místo před domem, náměstí nebo celé město, odráží stav společnosti. Dokumentární esej sleduje skrz fragmenty a zátiší podobu současných veřejných prostorů. Jsou to právě detaily, které mnohdy dokáží trefně popsat stav věcí. Proto jsem se rozhodla městský prostor mapovat optikou výřezů a výseků, jichž bychom si v obvyklém denním shonu sotva povšimli, jež nás však mohou přivézt k novým úvahám nejen o městě. Proměna společenských hodnot se přirozeně promítá do prostředí, jež nás obklopuje. Zažité nahrazuje nové, platné symboly a tradice nabývají v novém kontextu dalších významů, jiné se stávají bezvýznamnými. Veřejné prostory jsou v rekonstrukci. Co však vzejde z rekonstrukce společnosti?

Abstract:

Public space, whether we think of this urban concept as the place in front of the house, the square or the whole city, reflects the state of society. The documentary essay traces the form of contemporary public spaces through fragments and still-lifes. It is precisely the details that can often accurately describe the situation. That's why I decided to map the urban space through the lens of slices and cut-outs, which we would hardly notice in the usual daily hustle and bustle, but which can lead us to new considerations not only about the city. The transformation of social values is naturally reflected in the environment that surrounds us. New patterns replace the old ones, symbols and traditions acquire further meanings in a new context, others become meaningless. Public spaces are under reconstruction. But what will come out of the reconstruction of society?
