Family business in Ukraine – its problems, opportunities and challenges

Abstract:

Tato práce si klade za cíl prozkoumat komplexní krajinu rodinného podnikání na Ukrajině a osvětlit mnohostrannou dynamiku, která charakterizuje jeho existenci. Práce se bude skládat ze dvou částí – teoretické a praktické. V první části budou poskytnuty teoretické základy zvoleného tématu. Bude definován pojem rodinné firmy, její specifický obchodní model, vlastnosti a typy rodinné firmy. Popíše také výhody spojené s rodinným vlastnictvím a řízením podniku, nevýhody, jako jsou problémy v rodinných vztazích, možné konflikty a potíže s přenosem kontroly na další generaci. Dále práce popíše roli rodinného podniku v ukrajinské ekonomice a pečlivě zváží problémy rodinného podniku, příležitosti, které otevírají, a problémy, kterým čelí uvnitř i vně společnosti. V praktické části budou naznačena specifika podnikání tohoto typu v ukrajinské společnosti „Epicenter K“. Bude provedena podrobná revize zjištěných problémů a obtíží, kterým společnost čelí, stejně jako průzkum a analýza dat z kvalitativního výzkumu a vypracování doporučení k překonání obtíží a konfliktů spojených s vedením.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to explore the complex landscape of family business in Ukraine, shedding light on the multifaceted dynamics that characterize its existence. The work will consist of two parts - theoretical and practical. In the first part, the theoretical foundations of the chosen topic will be provided. The concept of a family business, its specific business model, features and types of a family business will be defined. It will also describe the advantages associated with family ownership and business management, the disadvantages such as problems in family relationships, possible conflicts and the difficulties of transferring control to the next generation. In addition, the thesis will describe the role of the family business in the Ukrainian economy, and will carefully consider the problems of the family business, the opportunities they open, and the problems they face inside and outside the company. In the practical part, the specifics of doing this type of business in the Ukrainian company "Epicenter K" will be indicated. A detailed review of the identified problems and difficulties faced by the company will be carried out, as well as a survey and analysis of qualitative research data and the development of recommendations to overcome difficulties and conflicts associated with management.
