Art in Public Space

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce řeší vztah umění a prostoru, ve kterém je umístěno. Rozebírá aspekty důležité pro vznik uměleckého díla, koncepci umisťování, legislativní proces i ekonomickou podporu. Upozorňuje na důležitou roli samotného veřejného prostoru, jeho funkce i podmínky kvality. Z historického hlediska rozebírá vývoj a proměňování funkcí umění ve veřejném prostoru i úpravu legislativních norem, které porovnává se současným stavem. Práce hodnotí vzájemný vztah umění a prostoru v rámci tří konkrétních území – historického jádra Prahy 1, sídlištního komplexu Prosek v Praze 9 a přírodního parku Stromovka v Praze 7. Hodnotí jejich současný stav s jejich pozitivy i negativy a navrhuje možná řešení. Každé z těchto území vyžaduje individuální přístup a jiné prostorové řešení – jejich návrhy se tak mohou stát inspirativním materiálem pro jednotlivé městské části či Magistrát hlavního města Prahy.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of the relationship between the art and the space in which it is situated. It analyses important aspects for the creation of the artwork, the concept of placement, the legislative process and economic support. It highlights the important role of public space itself, its function and quality conditions. From a historical point of view, it analyses evolution and transformation of the functions of the art in the public space, as well as the modification of legislative norms, which it compares with the current state. The work evaluates the relationship between the art and the space within three specific areas - the historical core of Prague 1, the housing complex Prosek in Prague 9 and the natural park Stromovka in Prague 7. It evaluates their current state with their positives and negatives and suggests possible solutions. Each of these territories requires an individual approach and a different spatial solution – so this thesis can become an inspirational material for individual city districts or Prague City Hall.
