Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na dvě hrdinské básně z období staré angličtiny, Beowulf a Battle of Maldon a analyzuje zobrazení germánského hrdinského kódu v těchto básních. Jejím cílem je ukázat, že autoři hrdinských básní, kromě oslavování činů jejich hrdinů, jsou někdy kritičtí a odsuzující vůči těmto hrdinům. Abstract:
This Bachelor’s thesis focuses on two heroic poems from the Old English period, Beowulf and Battle of Maldon, and analyses the portrayal of the Germanic heroic code in these poems. Its aim is to show that the authors of heroic poems, besides celebrating the deeds of their heroes, are sometimes more critical and condemning of their heroes.
