Campaing Tibet Amnesty International - impact on Czech society and politics

Abstract:

Téma Tibetu je stále aktuálním tématem v České republice, ale i v dalších zemích. Práce pojednává o hlavních neziskových organizacích, které se této problematice v ČR věnují a také o hlavních akcích v české politice, týkajících se Tibetu. Cílem práce bylo zmapování hlavních aktivit a organizací, které podnikají aktivity na podporu Tibetu. Práce staví na předpokladu, že Amnesty International jako největší organizace v ČR zabývající se lidskými právy, pořádá nejvíce akcí. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol. První kapitola se věnuje neziskovým organizacím a jsou popsány hlavní typy a formy aktivismu. Pro zasazení problému do kontextu je popsána tibetská historie a konflikt mezi Tibetem a Čínou. Ve třetí kapitole je charakterizována organizace Amnesty International a její aktivity na podporu Tibetu. V závěrečné části jsou popsány další organizace věnující se Tibetu a dopady a rezonování tématu v české politice, a to nejen na úrovni exekutivní i legislativní moci, ale také na nižší politické úrovni -- radnice -- které se významným způsobem podílejí na symbolických akcích na podporu Tibetu.

Abstract:

The topic of Tibet is still an actual topic in the Czech Republic, but also in other countries. The thesis deals with non-profit organizations that are devoted to this issue in the Czech Republic, as well as with major events of Czech politics, relating to Tibet. Non-profit organizations were selected as the representatives of the Czech society. The aim of the work was to monitor the main events and organizations that run activities in order to support Tibet. The work supposes that Amnesty International, the largest human rights organisation in the Czech Republic, organises most of the activities. The work is divided into four chapters. The first two parts are theoretical. The first chapter deals with nonprofits and describes the major types and forms of activism. In order to anchor the topic of Tibet, next chapter describes Tibetan history and the conflict between Tibet and China. In the third chapter, Amnesty International and its activities to support Tibet are introduced. In the final chapter other organizations dedicated to Tibet are presented, as the leaders of the Czech society, as well as the impact on politics. In the political sphere, the work is dedicated to the executive and legislative power and to town halls, which are involved in symbolic actions in support of Tibet.
