Scottish Referendum In Terms Of The Political Identity

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with political identity and how it was constructed by the pro-independence and the pro-union campaigns at the end of the independence referendum campaign in Scotland. The theoretical part deals with the history of Scotland in the United Kingdom and will offer a brief description of important events. Next, it describes the Scottish independence referendum and its key moments. Another chapter explains what political identity is and the last chapter describes the pro-independence and the pro-union campaigns. The research part presents the results and answers to research questions about political identity, the Scottish national identity (Scottishness) and British national identity (Britishness).

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá politickou identitou a způsoby jejího utváření kampaněmi pro a proti nezávislosti Skotska v závěru předvolební kampaně k referendu o nezávislosti. Teoretická část se zabývá historií Skotska v rámci Velké Británie a nabízí potřebný výčet klíčových událostí. Dále popisuje průběh kampaně za nezávislost a její zásadní okamžiky. Následující kapitola vysvětluje pojem politická identita a v závěru teoretické části jsou popisovány oba zásadní tábory ? kampaň za nezávislost Skotska a kampaň proti skotské nezávislosti. Výzkumná část práce prezentuje výsledky a odpovědi na výzkumné otázky týkající se politické identity, skotské národní identity (Scottishness) a britské národní identity (Britishness).
