Anotace:

This thesis explores how employers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia manage parental leave of employees. Findings reveal that firms adopt various strategies to maintain operations during employee absences, including internal restructuring and external hiring, either temporary or permanent. The decision-making process reflects two main approaches: individualized, tailored to the conditions of each employee, and firm-focused, prioritizing standardized practices for operational continuity. Employees’ expertise, positions’ workload intensity, and recruitment challenges influence firms’ choices.
