The rural prose of selected writers of the 19th century.

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou vesnického románu vybraných autorů druhé poloviny 19. století, a to konkrétně díly Karla Václava Raise a Karoliny Světlé. V případě K. V. Raise se jedná o knihu Kalibův zločin (1895), u K. Světlé je interpretován její ještědský román Kříž u potoka (1868). Tato práce podává ucelený pohled na dvě primární díla zmiňovaných autorů, mapuje základní aspekty daných dvou románů z vrcholného období českého realismu a celkově je zasazuje do kontextu dané doby. U obou děl je zkoumán způsob prezentace postav prostřednictvím nepřímé prezentace, dále jsou zde popsány vzájemné vztahy mezi jednotlivými postavami. Práce se v neposlední řadě věnuje také mravnímu založení hlavních hrdinů. Díky tomu je možné postavy mezi sebou porovnat, upozornit na jejich odlišnosti, nebo naopak postihnout jejich společné rysy. Poslední část je věnována zobrazení fikčního prostoru.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the problems of rural novel written by selected writers of the second half of 19th century, namely work of Karel Václav Rais and Karolina Světlá. In case of K. V. Rais it is a book Kalibův zločin (1895) and in case of K. Světlá there is interpreted her novel of Ještěd Kříž u potoka (1868). This work gives a comprehensive view of the two primary works of mentioned authors, explores the basic aspects of the two novels from the peak period of the Czech realism and overall it is put into context of time. Both works are studied from the point of view of presenting characters through indirect presentation; further it presents the relationships between the characters. The thesis also deals with the moral foundation of main heroes. This makes it possible to compare the figures with each other, to highlight their differences, or on the contrary show their common features. The last section displays the fictional space.
