Determination of critical micelle concentration of anionic surfactants using capillary electrophoresis

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá stanovením kritické micelární koncentrace vybraných aniontových tenzidů pomocí kapilární elektroforézy. Kritická micelární koncentrace homologické řady nonyl- až tridecylsíranu sodného byla stanovena metodou založenou na měření proudu a vodivosti v závislosti na koncentraci tenzidu a metodou založenou na měření retenčního času alkylbenzenů. V rámci měření byl testován vliv přídavku organického modifikátoru na změnu kritické micelární koncentrace tenzidu v základním elektrolytu. Pro dodecylsíran sodný byl také studován vliv přítomnosti dodekanolu na kritickou micelární koncentraci.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the determination of critical micelle concentration of selected anionic surfactants using capillary electrophoresis. Critical micelle concentration of homological series of sodium alkyl sulfates (nonyl- to tridecyl sulfate) was determined using a method based on measurement of current and conductivity depending on the concentration of the surfactant and the method based on measuring the retention time of the alkylbenzenes. Within the measurement was tested the effect of adding an organic modifier to change the critical micelle concentration of surfactant. Further, the effect of dodecanol on critical micelle concentration of sodium dodechl sulfate was evaluated.
