Voluntary work under the conditions of hospice care

Abstract:

MIKULÁŠKOVÁ, L. Dobrovolnictví v podmínkách hospicové péče: diplomová práce. Brno: Masarykova univerzita, Pedagogická fakulta, Katedra speciální pedagogiky, 2009. 97 l., 15 l. příl. Vedoucí diplomové práce Pavel Mühlpachr. Diplomová práce se zabývá uplatněním dobrovolnické služby v podmínkách hospicové péče. Předkládá souvislé a přehledné informace o dané problematice. Věnuje dobrovolnictví jako formě sociálně práce. Charakterizuje dobrovolnictví s přihlédnutím na fakt, že se jedná o projev společenské solidarity a poukazuje na význam sociální opory v životě jedince. Zabývá se pohledy na umírání a smrt z hlediska přístupů během historie až do současného pojetí. Zahrnuje historický vývoj hospicového hnutí, popis hospice jako instituce, hospicového týmu, který v něm působí a zaměřuje se na otázku dobrovolnictví v těchto institucích. Praktická část práce je tvořena analýzou rozhovorů s dobrovolníky z Hospice svaté Alžběty v Brně, které se věnovaly nejen postojům těchto dobrovolníků k umírání, smrti a hospicové péči v obecné rovině, ale také jejich zkušenostem s dobrovolnickou službou přímo ve zmiňovaném hospici.

Abstract:

The Diploma thesis deals with an applying of the voluntary care under the conditions of hospice care. The thesis submitts continuous and structured information about a given themes. It is focused on the voluntary care as a form of the social work. It describes the voluntary care with a view of social sollidarity and points out the value of the social support in the individual life. The thesis deals with the perspectives on dying and death with a view of the historical development. It involves the historical development of the hospice care as an institution, hospice team involved and solves the issue of voluntary care in these institutions. The practical part of the thesis is formed by the analysis of interview with the volunteers from the St. Alzbeta Hospice in Brno. The interviews were not focused only on the individual attitudes of the volunteers to the dying and the death as a polemic theme, but also on their practical experiences with the voluntary care in the above mentioned hospice.
