Organisation and management of modern commercial bank

Abstract:

The objective of my bachelor thesis is to present a comprehensive system of management and organizational structure of commercial banks in Slovakia. The first chapter focuses on the characteristics of the banking system and the position of commercial banks in it, its functions and objectives. Furthermore, it deals with the management of assets and liabilities, since this is considered to be the dominant problem of banking management. More is devoted to introduction of individual bank system management modules. The second chapter discusses the nature, role and significance, as well as the creation of organizational structure as a company, as well as commercial banks. It examines the main types of organizational structures in general and in banking, as well as the main authorities of the bank. The third chapter describes the organizational structure of a particular commercial bank - Tatra banka, a.s., which can be considered as example of compliance with the principles and rules of formation organizational structure with respect to the focus and major orientation of this bank. On the basis of the different types of organizational structures, we concluded that there is no universal ideal structure applicable to all banks, because banks structures vary depending on the strategic objectives of a particular bank. Success depends on the ability of the bank to choose the best structure for the management of the bank according to its focus.

Abstract:

Cieľom mojej bakalárskej práce je predstaviť komplexný systém riadenia a organizačnú štruktúru komerčných bánk na Slovensku. Prvá kapitola je zameraná na charakteristiku bankového systému a postavenie komerčnej banky v ňom, jej funkcie a ciele. Ďalej je venovaná problematike riadenia aktív a pasív, nakoľko je toto považované za dominantný problém bankového manažmentu. Podrobnejšie je venovaná predstaveniu jednotlivých modulov systému riadenia banky. Druhá kapitola pojednáva o podstate, úlohe a význame, ako aj o samotnej tvorbe organizačnej štruktúry ako podniku, tak aj komerčnej banky. Analyzuje tiež hlavné typy organizačných štruktúr vo všeobecnosti a v bankovníctve, ako aj hlavné orgány banky. V tretej kapitole je popisovaná organizačná štruktúra konkrétnej komerčnej banky – Tatra banky, a.s., na príklade ktorej môžeme vidieť dodržiavanie zásad a pravidiel tvorby organizažnej štruktúry s ohľadom na zameranie a hlavnú orientáciu tejto banky. Na základe analýzy jednotlivých typov organizačných štruktúr sme dospeli k záveru, že neexistuje univerzálna ideálna štruktúra aplikovateľná na všetky banky, nakoľko štruktúry bánk sa výrazne líšia v závislosti od strategických cieľov konkrétnej banky. Úspešnosť banky závisí od schopnosti výberu čo najvhodnejšej štruktúry pre riadenie danej banky vzhľadom na jej zameranie.
