The foreign policy of President Trump: a doctrine of conflict and peace

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je věnována problematice zahraniční politiky prezidenta Spojených států Donalda Trumpa. Práce představuje pokus o komplexní studii doktríny prezidenta Trumpa z hlediska dichotomie konfliktu a míru. Prostřednictvím metody analytické reflexe, spočívající v detailním rozboru Trumpovy doktríny, podává podrobný obraz zahraniční politiky Trumpovy administrativy. Přitom si klade otázku, zda je převažujícím projevem zahraniční politiky prezidenta Trumpa konflikt mezi Spojenými státy a zbytkem světa, či naopak rozvoj mezinárodních mírových vazeb napříč kontinenty. V souvislosti s tím je cílem této práce provést celkovou reflexi zahraniční politiky prezidenta Trumpa, na jejímž základě bude možné jednoznačně zodpovědět výše stanovenou výzkumnou otázku, jakož i potvrdit či vyvrátit níže položenou výchozí hypotézu. Tato hypotéza, postavená na předběžném autorském odhadu, předpokládá, že převažujícím projevem zahraniční politiky prezidenta Trumpa je konflikt mezi Spojenými státy a okolním světem, nikoliv rozvoj mezinárodních mírových vazeb napříč kontinenty.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of the foreign policy of the President of the United States Donald Trump. The thesis represents an attempt of a complex study of President Trump’s doctrine from the viewpoint of the dichotomy of conflict and peace. Using a method of analytical reflection, which is based on a detailed analysis of the Trump Doctrine, the thesis provides a detailed picture of the foreign policy of the Trump administration. The thesis answers the question of whether a conflict between the United States and the rest of the world or an advancement of international peace relations across the continents is the predominant result of the President Trump’s foreign policy. The goal of this thesis is to conduct a comprehensive reflection of the President Trump’s foreign policy, a one on whose basis it can be possible to unequivocally answer the research question stated above and either confirm or disprove the working hypothesis stated below. Based on a preliminary, author’s estimation, the hypothesis assumes that a conflict between the United States and the rest of the world, not an advancement of international peace relations across the continents, is the predominant result of the President Trump’s foreign policy.
