The effectivity of the inquiry-based learning approach on teaching 3rd grade pupils: an empirical study

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá možnostmi zařazování badatelsky orientované výuky do vyučování prvouky ve 3. ročníku základní školy a nástinu její efektivity využití na 1. stupni základní školy. V teoretické části diplomové práce je věnována pozornost zejména charakteristice učení, mladšího školního věku a důraz je kladen především na vymezení pojmu badatelsky orientovaná výuka a její druhy. Výzkumná část se zaměřuje na popis experimentální sondy ve dvou paralelních skupinách, kde byl realizován odlišný způsob výuky. V kontrolní skupině probíhala výuka transmisivně-instruktivním způsobem a v experimentální skupině byla realizována badatelsky orientovaná výuka. Cílem výzkumné části bylo především poodhalit efektivitu badatelsky orientované výuky ve 3. ročníku základní školy, a to za pomoci srovnávání výsledků didaktického testu. Výsledky empirické sondy naznačují přínos badatelsky orientované výuky pro žáky 3. ročníku základní školy především v oblasti osvojení a využití získaných vědomostí.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the options of inclusion of inquiry-based education into the lessons of Biology in the 3rd grade of the primary school and it outlines the efficiency of usage of inquiry-based education in the primary school. The main attention in the theoretical part of this thesis is dedicated to the characterization of learning, younger school age and the emphasis is put to the definition of the concept of inquiry-based education and its types. The researching part of this work focuses on the description of experimental probe in two parallel groups. In each group there was realized different mode of teaching. In the control group there was realized transmissive mode of teaching and on the other side in the experimental group the inquiry-based education was realized. The goal of the researching part was to reveal the efficiency of inquiry-based education in the 3rd grade in the primary school. This was done according to the comparison of the results of the didactic test. The results of the researching probe shows the benefits of inquiry-based education for the pupils of the third grade in the primary school especially in the domain of acquirement and use of acquired knowledge.
