The introduction of the euro in the Czech Republic in the business field using knowledge from Slovenia

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou zavedení eura a začleněním ČR do eurozóny, do které se zavázala vstoupit při vstupu do EU, se zaměřením na podnikovou sféru. Jako příklad úspěšného zavedení společné měny slouží Slovinsko. Cílem práce je zhodnotit předpokládaný proces zavedení eura v ČR a v českých podnicích a navrhnout doporučení ze Slovinska. Práce se zaměřuje na obsah Národního plánu zavedení eura v ČR a ve Slovinsku, a zda se nějak oba plány od sebe liší. Na příkladu Slovinska je vysvětlena podstata alternativního scénáře přechodu na euro, tzv. velkého třesku, který plánuje i ČR. Dále jsou zde vyhledávána specifika slovinského trhu, a jaké náklady firmám vznikly při přechodu na euro, případně jak se s přechodem vypořádaly. Součástí práce jsou rovněž dopady zavedení eura ve Slovinsku z pohledu spotřebitelů, se zaměřením na cenový monitoring, informační a komunikační kampaň a kroky podniknuté ke snížení skutečné, vnímané a očekávané inflace. Slovinskou zvláštností byly mzdové dohody před zavedením eura. Všechny tyto zkušenosti ze Slovinska lze využít též v ČR.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with issues of the introduction of the euro and the integration of the Czech Republic into the euro zone, to which it has committed to enter when joining the EU, while focusing on the business field. Slovenia serves as an example of the successful introduction of the common currency. The goal of this thesis is to evaluate the expected process of the euro introduction in the Czech Republic and in Czech companies and suggest recommendations from Slovenia. The thesis focuses on the content of the National Euro Changeover Plan of both Czech Republic and Slovenia and whether these plans differ somehow. The principle of the alternative euro changeover scenario, the so called Big Bang Scenario, which the Czech Republic is also planning, is explained on the example of Slovenia. Furthermore, the specifics of the Slovenian market are searched and what kind of costs in the companies originated from the euro changeover, or alternatively, how they dealt with the changeover. This thesis also includes the impact of the euro introduction in Slovenia from the consumers’ perspective while focusing on price monitoring, information and communication campaign and steps taken to reduce actual, perceived and expected inflation. Wage agreements before the introduction of the euro were specific to Slovenia. All these experiences from Slovenia can also be used in the Czech Republic.
