Compounds in Current Spanish

Abstract:

The topic of the thesis are compounds in current Spanish. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical parts and it has one appendix, a corpus for the linguistic analysis, containing 880 samples extracted from two Spanish dailies, El Mundo (electronic version) and El País (printed version). The theoretical part consists of four chapters. The first one deals with the ways of enlarging the Spanish lexicon, the author focuses on the process of compounding and mentions the basic characteristics of Spanish compounds, in the second half of the chapter attention is paid to the problems related to neologisms. In the second chapter the types of compound words are described and several ways of their classifying in linguistics are compared. The third chapter presents the difficulties resulting from the relation between prefixing and compounding in Spanish linguistics, the problems connected with the term prefix as well as the problematic concepts of native (vulgares) and Greek or Latin (grecolatinos) prefixes. In the fourth chapter the compounds are examined from the viewpoint of phraseology, the author tries to describe the differences between some concepts used mainly in morphology, syntax and phraseology (idiom, collocation, compound, free syntactic phrase) and, in this way, to specify the research object. At the beginning of the practical part twelve hypotheses are formulated, besides, the procedures and methods of the research are explained. On the basis of the given criteria 368 samples are selected from the corpus involving 880 samples and analyzed from the morphological, syntactic and semantic points of view. Some results are presented in commented tables. In the final part (Conclusiones) the conclusions related to each hypothesis are formulated.

Abstract:

Tématem práce jsou slova složená v současné španělštině. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část a obsahuje jednu přílohu, korpus pro lingvistickou analýzu s 880 vzorky, jejichž zdrojem jsou dva španělské deníky, El Mundo (elektronická verze) a El País (tištěná verze). Teoretická část se skládá ze čtyř kapitol. První kapitola se zabývá způsoby obohacování španělského lexika, autorka se zaměřuje na kompozici a uvádí základní charakteristiky španělských kompozit, v druhé části kapitoly je pozornost věnována problematice neologismů. Ve druhé kapitole jsou popsány typy složených slov a je porovnáno několik způsobů jejich lingvistické klasifikace. Třetí kapitola prezentuje problematiku vztahu prefixace a kompozice ve španělské lingvistice, problematiku pojmu prefix a také problematiku konceptu prefixů domácích (vulgares) a prefixů řeckých nebo latinských (grecolatinos). Ve čtvrté kapitole jsou složeniny zkoumány z hlediska frazeologického, autorka se snaží popsat rozdíly především mezi morfologickými, syntaktickými a frazeologickými koncepty (idiom, kolokace, slovo složené, volné spojení slov), a tím vymezit předmět výzkumu. V úvodu praktické části je formulováno dvanáct hypotéz a jsou vysvětleny postupy a metody výzkumu. Na základě stanovených kritérií je z 880 vzorků vybráno 368 k morfologicko-syntaktické a sémantické analýze. Některé výsledky jsou prezentovány ve formě komentovaných tabulek. V závěrečné části (Conclusiones) jsou formulovány závěry k jednotlivým hypotézám.
