Analysis of startup valuation methods in the context of fundraising rounds and subsequent application to the startup Posedla s.r.o.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou startupového prostředí. Popisuje vznik těchto subjektů a analyzuje aktuální situaci v tomto odvětví. Představeny jsou investiční kola a formy finančních podpor pro mladé podniky, jež jsou úměrné jejich aktuální fázi rozvoje. Úhlavní část práce je věnována zkoumání alternativních oceňovacích metod v kontextu fundraisingových kol. Důraz je kladen na vliv velikosti finálního ocenění při jednáních s potencionálním investorem. Okrajově jsou zmíněny i tradiční valuační principy. Následně je vyhodnocena jejich příhodnost v rámci konkrétního analyzovaného startupu. Vhodná oceňovací metoda je aplikována na startup Posedla s.r.o. s cílem determinovat aktuální hodnotu společnosti a zajistit pozici pro vyjednávání s potenciálním investorem v Series A.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of startup environment. It describes the importance of these entities and analyses the current situation in this sector. It presents investment rounds and forms of financial support for young enterprises, which are proportional to their current stage of development. The main part of the thesis is devoted to the examination of alternative valuation methods in the context of fundraising rounds. The focus is on the impact of the size of the final valuation in negotiations with a potential investor. Traditional valuation principles are also mentioned in passing. Subsequently, their appropriateness in the context of the specific startup analysed is evaluated. The appropriate valuation method is applied to the startup Posedla s.r.o. in order to determine the current value of the company and to position it for negotiations with a potential investor in Series A.
