Tato diplomová práce analyzuje pět válečných projevů prezidentů Spojených států s cílem zjistit, jak se v průběhu posledního století vyvíjely přesvědčovací strategie. Teoretická část popisuje rétorické strategie a vybrané pojmy z pragmatické lingvistiky. Empirická část obsahuje rétorickou a pragmatickou analýzu pěti válečných prezidentských projevů se zaměřením na řečové akty, rámcování a apel na emoce, logiku a etiku. Zjištění ukazují posun v rétorice, který odráží změny ve společenském očekávání a stylu politické komunikace.

Abstract:

This thesis analyses five U.S. presidential war speeches to explore how persuasive strategies have evolved over the last century. The theoretical part describes persuasive strategies in rhetoric and selected concepts from pragmatic linguistics. The empirical part includes a rhetorical and pragmatic analysis of five war-related presidential speeches focusing on speech acts, framing, and emotional, logical, and ethical appeal. The findings show a shift in the rhetoric reflecting the change in public expectations as well as political communication styles.
