Comparison of Planned Curriculum of English Language at Primary Schools in the Czech Republic and in the Netherlands

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Komparace plánovaného kurikula anglického jazyka na primárních školách v České republice a v Nizozemsku“ se zabývá analýzou a srovnáním plánovaných kurikulárních dokumentů anglického jazyka podle Mezinárodní normy pro klasifikaci vzdělání ISCED 1 a srovnáním rozhovorů s učiteli anglického jazyka na výzkumných školách. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou, která vychází z odborné literatury a mezinárodních srovnávacích webů. Zaměřuje se na teoretická východiska jako srovnávací pedagogika, kurikulum, primární vzdělávání a cizí jazyky v evropských vzdělávacích systémech. V této části jsou teoreticky popsány a srovnány státy výzkumu z hlediska geopolitického, kulturního a historického vhledu a popsané primární vzdělávání ve srovnávaných státech. V empirické části jsou představeny metodologie výzkumu, analyzované a srovnané výsledky školního kurikula a rozhovory s učiteli anglického jazyka.

Abstract:

The master thesis "Comparison of Planned Curriculum of English Language at Primary Schools in the Czech Republic and in the Netherlands” deals with the analysis and comparison of planned documents summarizing curricula and main outcomes of the English language at primary schools, according to the International Standard Classification of Education ISCED 1 and the comparison of interviews with teachers of English language at researched schools. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part, which is based on scientific literature and international web’s resources. The work is focused on theoretical resources such as comparative education, curriculum, primary education, and foreign languages in European education systems. In this part, the countries of the research are theoretically described and compared in the fields of geopolitical, cultural point of view, historical insight, and primary education. The empirical part talks about the methodology of the research described and compared planned curricula documents and interviews with teachers of the English language.
