Methods od surface smoothing

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje tématu plochy v kontextu teoretickém i praktickém, z pohledu diferenciální geometrie, regresního modelu a především splinového vyhlazování. Důležitým pojmem je také triangulace plochy. Cílem je srovnání modelů thin-plate splinu, B-splinu a P-splinu implementovaných v softwaru R (konkrétně balíček mgcv) s modely popsanými v teoretické části a implementovanými pomocí naprogramovaných funkcí. Modely srovnáváme z hlediska výpočetního času, vizuální efektivity a chování vůči velkému/malému rozsahu dat. Uvedené modely byly aplikovány na celkem dvě sady dat. První sada dat představuje tři různě husté sítě souřadnic bodů lidské tváře v okolí nosu. Druhá sada dat obsahuje dvě sítě map České Republiky s hodnotami maximální denní teploty vzduchu v letech 2021 a 1961.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the topic of surface in both theoretical and practical contexts, from the perspective of differential geometry, regression model and especially spline smoothing. Triangulation of the surface is also an important concept. The aim is to compare the thin-plate spline, B-spline and P-spline models implemented in the R software (specifically the mgcv package) with the models described in the theoretical part and implemented using programmed functions. We compare the models in terms of computational time, visual efficiency and behaviour towards large/small scale data. These models were applied to two datasets. The first dataset represents three differently dense networks of coordinates of points of the human face around the nose area. The second dataset contains two networks of maps of the Czech Republic with values of maximum daily air temperature in 2021 and 1961.
