Impact of the COVID19 pandemic on the production and management of municipal waste in a selected region of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce zjišťuje, zda měla pandemie covidu-19 vliv na produkci a nakládání s komunálním odpadem v regionu Třebíč. Teoretická část zahrnuje poznatky o dopadech pandemie na odpadové hospodářství ze zahraniční i místní literatury. Na základě dat získaných od společnosti ESKO-T pro region Třebíč došlo ve výzkumné části k porovnání produkce odpadu v období před pandemií 2017–2019 s pandemickými roky 2020–2021. Práce se blíže zaměřila na chování domácností v regionu. Informace o domácnostech byly získány formou dotazníkového šetření. Z dat vyplývá, že pandemie měla na region Třebíč minimální dopad, přesto byly zaznamenány změny například v produkci bioodpadu, skla a obalových materiálů.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis investigates whether the pandemic of covid-19 had an impact on the production and management of municipal waste in Třebíč region. The theoretical part includes findings from the foreign and local literature on the impact of the pandemic on waste management. Based on the data obtained from ESKO-T for Třebíč region, the research part compares waste production in the pre-pandemic period 2017–2019 with the pandemic years 2020–2021. The thesis takes a closer look to the behaviour of households in the region. Information on households was obtained through a questionnaire survey. The result of the work is that the pandemic had much lower impact on the production of waste in Třebíč region.
