The Czech and Slovak Lefts Consolidation and their Contemporary Positions in Comparative Perspective

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je analyzovat a porovnat vzestup a konsolidaci postavení levicových stran v Česku a na Slovensku v rámci jejich stranických systémů. Autorka se nebude věnovat primárně vnitrostranickému vývoji, ale bude analyzovat vliv aspektů, jako postavení levicových subjektů ve stranických systémech, jejich performanci ve volebních soutěžích a v neposlední řadě se bude zabývat konstituováním a stabilizací levicově orientovaných voličských skupin. Autorka v závěru zasadí českou a slovenskou levici do středoevropského komparativního rámce (Visegrádská čtverka). Z časového hlediska je možné práci ohraničit lety 1989 – 2006, větší zájem ovšem bude věnován současnému postavení levicových stran, nikoliv jejich historické genezi, a to i s ohledem na poslední volby v obou zemích v roce 2006. Práce vychází z hypotézy, že příčiny roztříštěnosti a nestability slovenské levice – na straně jedné – a strukturální ustálenosti českého levého spektra – na straně druhé – musíme hledat spíše, než-li ve vnitrostranické proměnlivosti, v externích vlivech a charakteru obou politik v jejich celistvosti.

Abstract:

The aim of the Diploma work is to analyze and compare the left parties positions and consolidations in the framework of party systems in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The Author will not address to internal party evolutions primarily but she will analyze the influencing aspects as the left positions in party systems, their representation in elections and constitutions - stabilisations of the left-oriented electorates. The author will set the Czech and Slovak left in the Central European comparative perspective (the Visegrad Group). The work is limited by the years 1989 and 2006 with the emphasis on their present situation, regarding the elections 2006 in both countries. The Hypothesis is that the (non)consolidation of the Czech and Slovak lefts is caused rather by the external influences than the internal party ones.
