Holistic preconception preparation of a couple led by a midwife

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the topic of preconception care. It includes all the aspects, which form the base of conception and clarifies how a couple can optimize their physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual health within the frame of the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual composition of human beings. There is modern knowledge about the preconception period mentioned in this thesis conjoined with agelong wisdom of our ancestors. An important aspect in this paper is realization, that already two weeks before a woman misses her period, there is an important development of the fetus happening. In the practical part of the thesis interviews with students of midwifery and midwives practising in Brno were done. Based on the results of the interviews it was concluded, that education concerning preconception planning isn't sufficient even though both the midwives and the students are motivated to know more about it. This paper is trying to instigate midwives and students of midwifery to preconceptionally prepare couples, since it is in the competence of this profession. With preconception preparation a couple can not only forego numerous complications during pregnancy, birth and future life of their child but they can also fully prepare themselves to greet the new being - its body, mind and spirit. The output of this thesis is holistic educational material for midwives and students of midwifery which they will be able to use as a base for a complex preconception preparation of their clients.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca je zameraná na tému predkoncepčnej starostlivosti. Zahŕňa všetky aspekty, ktoré sú základom počatia a objasňuje, ako pár môže optimalizovať svoje fyzické, emočné, duševné a spirituálne zdravie v rámci teórie bio-psycho-socio-spirituálneho zloženia osobnosti. V tejto bakalárskej práci sú spomenuté moderné poznatky o predkoncepčnom období spojené s pradávnou múdrosťou našich predkov. Dôležitým aspektom je poukázať na fakt, že už dva týždne predtým, ako žene vynechá menštruácia, nastáva dôležitá fáza vývoja plodu. V rámci praktickej časti práce boli uskutočnené rozhovory so študentkami pôrodnej asistencie a pôrodnými asistentkami pôsobiacimi v Brne. Na základe vyhodnotenia rozhovorov sa prišlo k záveru, že edukácia v oblasti predkoncepčnej prípravy nie je dostatočná i keď pôrodné asistentky i študentky sú motivované dozvedieť sa o nej viac. Práca sa snaží podnietiť pôrodné asistentky a študentky pôrodnej asistencie k zaradeniu predkoncepčnej prípravy páru do svojej praxe, keďže je to v kompetencii tohto povolania. Predkoncepčnou prípravou môže pár nielen predísť mnohým komplikáciám tehotenstva, pôrodu a budúceho života dieťaťa, ale sa aj na všetkých úrovniach pripraviť privítať novú bytosť - jej telo, myseľ i dušu. Výstupom je holistický edukačný materiál pre pôrodné asistentky a študentky pôrodnej asistencie, ktorý budú môcť využiť ako podklad pre komplexnú predkoncepčnú prípravu svojich klientov.
